ITINERARY
DAY 1 LIMA
You’ll arrive at the international airport in Lima (the majority of flights arrive at night between 8pm and 2am). Our team will be waiting with a private vehicle to take you to the hotel of your choice. Depending on your itinerary, you’ll visit some of the most important museums in the city. (Optional)
Day 2 LIMA – HUARAZ
We’ll depart early in bus to arrive in Huaraz by nightfall. During the trip, we’ll stop at two towns: Pativilca and Conococha. Along the way you’ll see part of Peru’s vast, arid coastal desert. Sand dunes will be our constant companions until we turn to enter the Sierra and arrive in Huaraz at night. You’ll spend the night comfortably in a hotel of your choice.
Day 3 HUARAZ
Today, you can travel around the city however you like, exploring at your own pace. You can visit textile and souvenir markets as well as archeological and religious sites. In the afternoon, you’ll return to your hotel and meet your guide for a talk about the activities during the rest of your trip.
Day 4 HUARAZ – VAQUEIRA (CAMP)
Today you’ll visit the beautiful Huascaran National Park, which covers 3,400 square kilometers, 14 peaks, around 434 lakes and a wide diversity of flora and fauna. We’ll also walk a ways down the Demanda Ravine. After lunch, we’ll continue walking towards Portachuelo de Llanganuco (the Llanganuco Gate). Before nightfall we’ll arrive at the small town of Vaqueira, where we’ll eat something delicious and camp for the night.
Day 5 VAQUEIRA – TUCTU (CAMP)
We’ll have an early breakfast to fill you up for the day’s hike. We’ll head through the Huariapampa Valley and take in the panoramic views of peaks and local vegetation. We’ll camp tonight in Tuctu, a small populated area.
Day 6 TUCTU – TAULLIPAMPA
After a tasty breakfast, we’ll climb to the high pass of Punta Union and then continue along a path presumed to have been used by the first inhabitants of Peru. Our journey continues through the shady Santa Cruz Valley and then, after a break and photo opportunity, downwards to Taullipampa, where we’ll camp under the light of the stars.
Day 7 TAULLIPAMPA – LLAMACORAL
Today we’ll explore the beautiful Santa Cruz Valley, but not, of course, before a nutritious breakfast! You’ll descend a narrow path, with the guide explaining things and answering any questions as you go. After lunch you’ll continue hiking to Llamacoral and the journey’s final campsite.
Day 8 LLAMACORAL – HUARAZ
Your feet can take a break today after many tiring days of hiking. A short walk from Llamacoral brings you to Cashapampa, where you’ll get on a bus for Huaraz. You’ll arrive in the afternoon and have the rest of the day free to relax in the comforts of your hotel.
Day 9 HUARAZ – LIMA
We’ll say goodbye to Huaraz today and return to Lima in bus. We’ll arrive at night and be taken directly the hotel so that you can relax after the long bus ride.
DAY 10 LIMA
On the final day, we’ll take you to the Cusco airport for your return flight to Lima and your connecting flight home.
